About Dr. Todani

Dr. Todani completed a Clinical/Research Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive surgery at the Harvard Medical School affiliated Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. His previous education included medical school & internship training at N.R.S Medical College in Kolkata, India and residency training in ophthalmology at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology in India. His international clinical experience also included working as a Senior House Officer in Ophthalmology at the Arrowe Park Hospital in Wirral, United Kingdom. He subsequently completed another Ophthalmology residency at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY.

As an author of numerous medical publications, Dr. Todani holds a keen interest in academics and translational research in Ophthalmology. He has been invited to present at several national and international ophthalmic conferences, including the World Cornea Congress, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, & the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology symposia.

Dr.Todani has been the recipient of several prestigious academic awards and distinctions. He was honored with the Robert Reinecke Research Reward during his final year of ophthalmology residency in Albany, NY. He also won the best paper award in Glaucoma and was the recipient of Travel Grant from the European Association for Vision and Eye Research in Slovenia. Dr. Todani collaborated on a video presentation entitled “Telemetric IOP Measurement: Deciphering Glaucoma’s Blind Spot,” which was awarded the Grand Prize at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery film festival in San Francisco. His video was a summary of his main research project at Harvard and was chosen as the best among 180 films submitted from around the world

Being passionate about offering the latest & greatest technology to his patients, Dr. Todani specializes in the modern laser-assisted cataract surgery and offers the full spectrum of advanced technology intraocular lenses to enhance visual outcomes and minimize the dependency on eye glasses. In addition to having extensive surgical experience in cataracts, he was one of the pioneer surgeons to offer the iStent soon after its FDA approval, a minimally invasive glaucoma surgery to concurrently treat glaucoma at the time of cataract surgery. As a recognized leader in the field of glaucoma, Dr. Todani also offers other innovative approaches to treat the disease including glaucoma lasers and the Durysta implant. His other areas of expertise include refractive surgery including LASIK and PRK, Refractive Lens Exchange; Collagen cross-linking for keratoconus and corneal ectasias; innovative dry eye treatment modalities including the IPL (intense pulse light therapy); and corneal surgeries including DMEK corneal transplants and pterygium surgery. He also takes a keen interest in medical retina and provides treatment for age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), retinal vein occlusions, diabetic retinopathy as well as laser treatment for floaters.

Dr. Todani speaks fluent English, Hindi, and Bengali, and can communicate with his patients directly in these languages during their appointments. His practice also uses real-time professional video translator services for several other languages.
